Other Types of Writing

Not all tasks at SimpleTense are written in standard essay format and should be written to meet order requirements. The following are some of the various types of orders that can be found on the platform.

Creative Writing

For creative writing orders that include but are not limited to fiction and screenwriting, it may be acceptable to use informal language, contractions, or first-person point-of-view. Please follow all order instructions carefully and follow any specific formatting instructions included.

News-Style/Journalism

For news-style writing such as op-ed pieces, do not write an academic essay with an introduction, thesis, and conclusion. Instead use the inverted pyramid format. In this format, the most newsworthy information goes at the beginning of the story. Make sure to answer these questions: Who? What? Where? When? How? Why? Important details go in the body of the story (the middle of the pyramid). Other general information/background information goes toward the end of the story (the tip of the pyramid)

Letters and Memos

Letters and memos should have block formatting and fields for the sender’s and recipient’s names and addresses. Open each letter with a professional greeting and use professional closings such as “Respectfully submitted” or “Sincerely yours.”

Design-Related Tasks

For tasks that call for posters, infographics, etc. to be made please submit the file in Word or PowerPoint format so it can be edited. Do not submit PDF files as we are unable to make changes to them. Aim for visually appealing graphics that use a pleasing color scheme and maintain a balance between visuals and text.
